Kinesiology (TFH) for Your Right Brain

TFH for Right BrainLast year I decided to put my new found Touch for Health skills to use. I had recently finished the second level of TFH and was excited to use the results for, well, everything! For those who are unfamiliar with muscle testing, it involves stating a goal like “I am physically balanced” and then testing a muscle that is strong. If you are not physically balanced specific muscles will go weak when pressure is applied to them. This part admittedly sounds a little drab. The exciting part is when you get fast at it all and can start adjusting your energy through strengthening your muscles quickly. Then you have the power to “balance” yourself for specific goals easily.

One goal I was excited about concentrating on was strengthening my Right Brain. The idea of the Right Brain being precognizant of cultural developments really appeals to me. This powerful tool is already inside our heads but is sadly underutilized. So came the balancing sessions for the Right Brain. I would have goals such as “My Right Brain is operating at 100% of its capacity” or sometimes “My Right Brain is the dominant hemisphere”. At first, the results were slow. At first, the 100% goal took a long time to finish a balance, in other words, a considerable number of meridians were weak and I had to strengthen them all in order to complete the goal. When I finished, the result was that my Right Brain was more like 70% - 80% and my Left Brain had went down to something like 80% as well. Persistence paid off. Now when I balance myself for this goal, for when I’m getting too logical or need to do some art, I can do it quickly. The results are immediate, I’m in a better mood, I’m spontaneous, I make different artistic or conceptual connections.

Mental Tuneup - “Switching On”

If you want to quickly give yourself a mental tuneup, enjoy a more unified thinking process, do what is called “switching-on”. It’s simple, I’ll show you!

1. One hand over navel.

2. With other hand rub under collarbone (K27).

3. While still holding navel, rub the spots above and below your top and bottom lip (Cv24, Gv27).

4. Still holding navel, rub your tail bone (G1).

5. Repeat with switched hands.

Detailed Instructions for “Switching On”

Put your left hand over your navel. Take your right hand and gently rub just below your collarbone with your fingers on one side and your thumb on the other. This is the acupuncture spot K27, the end of your Kidney meridian. You may notice its sore to rub even gently there but keep going for 15 - 30 seconds. The kidney meridian is the source of energy for your body, if you’re feeling depleted or sluggish at all, this can help!

With your left hand still on your navel, put your right thumb and index finger on your top and bottom lip. Rub gently for 15 - 30 seconds. These spots are the ends of your Central and Governing meridians, Cv24 and Gv27. These are the crucial meridians for the systems in your body with the Central meridian running upward on your front to your bottom lip and the Governing running up your back, over your head to your upper lip.

Your left hand should still be over your navel. With you right hand, rub the end of the coccyx (tail bone). Rub for 15 - 30 seconds. This is the spot GV1, the start of the Governing Meridian. Switch hands and do repeat the steps with your left hand.

How is this a Mental Tuneup?

I like to visualize how this affects my meridians and my mental state. The right brain controls the left side of the body and the left brain controls the right side. As you hold your navel with your right hand, its like you are connecting up your logical mind with your physical state, what your physical body needs. The movement left and right as you rub the K27 Kidney point below the collarbone suggests a connection between left and right hemispheres, increasing your brain’s capability of lateral thinking. The up and down movement on the upper and bottom lip, relating to the Central and Governing meridians, would relate to strengthening vertical thinking.

If you are interested in learning about how to strengthen your Right Brain through similar methods I suggest you look into Brain Gym and Touch for Health, both methods teach easy to understand and easy to implement courses that give you the ability to self-test and improve your mind and body.
